BiographyThe year was 1958 and Rock and Roll had taken the youth of America by storm. The music world was forever changed and yet, in the small Midwestern town of Wanda, IL, four young men would join together to sing a different kind of music. These young men would form the Gospel Four Quartet, an exciting Southern Gospel group that would soon impact Gospel Music fans throughout Mid America. They would continue to sing together through the decade of the ‘60s until they would disband in the early 1970s. In the mid 1990’s three of these men would reunite under a new name, the Wanda Mountain Boys. They would continue to sing the great Southern Gospel songs that a generation of Gospel Music fans had come to love. The manager of the group is original member and baritone singer, Claude Johnson. Claude’s rich baritone voice and his unique emcee style have made him a favorite among Southern Gospel music lovers for many years. Claude also spent some time singing with the legendary Midwestern group, the Victory Qt. Tenor, Rod Hannis, also an original member of the group is a fan favorite wherever he goes. Rod’s gentle spirit and servant’s heart come through when he sings. Rod would leave the group for a short time during the 1960’s to do a tour of duty in Vietnam. After returning home, he would once again take his position on the stage. The newest member of the Wanda Mountain Boys is lead singer, Gary O’Neal. Gary has been involved in Gospel Music for 37 years and has traveled fulltime with both the Brashears and his own trio, Solid Gospel. He is an established songwriter as well, having his music recorded by such noted artists as the Lesters, the Melody Boys Qt., the Dixie Echoes, the Brashears, the Dixie Melody Boys, the Chosen Ones and Sons of the Father. He most recently sang lead for a popular Missouri based quartet, Crimson Gold. The Wanda Mountain Boys travel many miles singing traditional Southern Gospel Music. They desire to both uplift the Christian by sharing a positive message and a laugh or two as well as take the Gospel message to those who need to come to a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
