Oct 08 Newsletter
This is my favorite time of the year, when there’s just a little bit of chill in the air and the trees are so beautiful. God is so amazing how he can display such wonders and control all of this. It astounds me that people can look at these things and not acknowledge Him.
Outdoor concerts can be a little on the chilly side in October. We started the month off, October 4, with our friend, Pastor Denny Hamilton in Edinburg, IL. His and several other local churches joined together to sponsor an outdoor Gospel concert at the city park. The Wanda Mountain Boys were privileged to work once again with our special friends, the Chosen Ones and Saved By Grace along with several local area singers. This was an unusual Saturday morning date for us and it started out on the cool side but the sun came out and warmed things up and made for a nice event. That evening, we traveled back to Missouri to sing at another first time event hosted by Pastor Charlie Smith and the congregation of Oak Grove Baptist Church in Jonesburg, MO. This too was held at the city park in a nice indoor pavilion. The church had free popcorn, hot dogs and cotton candy along with some jump games for the kids. We had a great concert and enjoyed our first trip to this part of the state. On Saturday afternoon, October 11th, we traveled to Sandridge New Hope Southern Baptist Church in Pekin, IL. Judy Greenbaugh booked us for their homecoming. They fed us a great meal and then we did an afternoon concert. Pastor Delbert Penrod is an interesting man, having spent several years teaching in Bible colleges. He now serves as a chaplain for both the Illinois State Police and the F.B.I. He had some interesting stories to tell. On the 19th, we stayed close to home and sang for the New Bethel United Methodist Church in Glen Carbon, IL. Pastor Chris Ritter had planned a special day where the church would give out some special awards to some very deserving people in the church. We sang for all three morning services and had a great time with them. The 25th was a very special evening, as we had the opportunity to travel to Sullivan, MO to sing at the New Life of Hope Church. Our good friend, Kevin Beckett of the Glorylanders helps book the groups there along with Pastors Tina and Dave Lawrence. We were joined for the evening by long time friends Marty Moreland and a great trio, Final Authority. We could feel the Holy Spirit from the first song and it was a special night. Thanks go out to the church for providing a very nice meal for the groups prior to the concert. We hope to see you all in Roxanna, IL on Tuesday night December 9th. We will have the privilege to open for Brian Free and Assurance. If you need tickets please email us or give us a call. This should be a great pre-Christmas concert. 11/20/2008
