We enjoyed a few weekends off in March but we made it all up in one great weekend.

April was a very fun month for the Wanda Mountain Boys. We are having a blast sharing our music across the Midwest and are looking forward to coming to your area soon.
We started out the month at one of our favorite places, The Barn, outside of Pana, IL. The WMB has been singing for JoAnn Clark for many years and have developed an interesting relationship with her. Over the years, the Wanda Mountain Boys have played many practical jokes on JoAnn so the regulars that attend the concert are always anticipating what is coming next. This year, JoAnn decided to be proactive and was waiting for us to arrive. For many years, Claude has been known for singing "The Lighthouse". JoAnn also sings the song and it has always been a friendly competition as to who sings it better. She decided to have Claude pull up a stool and watch as Rod and I joined her on the classic song. As you may well imagine, there was some action going on behind us as we were singing the song. Not to be outdone, Claude would later sing the song, by request. We still aren't sure who made the request but it sure looked like Claude's handwriting. As we began to sing, JoAnn made her way to the steps of the stage, crying like a baby. I didn't think it sounded that bad but she must have. LOL Needless to say, we had a great time at the Barn. It is so good to be able to relax and enjoy a few laughs and some good Southern Gospel Music. Christians deserve to have a good time. On the 9th, we had the privilege to sing for the folks at the Rosewood Care Center in Edwardsville, IL. Helen Johnson works at the center and invited us to share with some wonderful folks. One lady told us as we were leaving that she was better because we had come. That's what it is all about. We had the great privilege to sing at an appreciation banquet for the volunteers at the Lewis Memorial Christian Village in Springfield, IL. These folks represent 15 Christian Churches in the Springfield area. They volunteer throughout the month, delivering meals and helping with medication and other needs. Claude was right on when he commented that we were singing to a room full of angels. These folks are the unsung heroes of the world. Thanks goes to Debi Menke for inviting us to share the day with these great people. Kenneth Wise is one of our favorite people to work for and we enjoyed our trip to Mason City, IL to sing at the Arlee Theatre. This is a wonderful old time movie theatre that the community uses for concerts and plays. We had a nice crowd and enjoyed hearing Rod Nicholson, who sang during the break. We were honored to have Brady Rueter with us most of the day. He has been working with our sound system, helping us tune in some new cordless microphones and ear monitors. Brady joined us on several songs and we were surprised when his dad, Mike, showed up for the concert. Mike joined us to sing "the Lighthouse". We have studio time reserved to start our new hymn recording and are also working toward a live dvd recording with the Chosen Ones. We will be putting out the information as soon as we set the date. Don't forget to check out our photo area as we are adding new photos on a regular basis. Also, check us out at: www.gospelgigs.com. You can sign up for free to receive emails that will let you know when groups are coming to your area. There are several hundred groups signed up through the website and you can select the range that you are willing to travel from home to go to a concert. Every week, you will receive an email with a link that will show you which groups that are going to be within that range of your zip code so every time that the Wanda Mountain Boys come to your area, you will be notified. It is a wonderful tool and we hope that you will take advantage of it.
