August NewsletterMy how time flies by when you're having fun. The last 6 weeks were gone in a flash and I realized that I hadn't written to you all in awhile. I am finally living in my new home, still unpacking and discovering all the things that we had forgotten we even had. I'll let you all know when the giant garage sale is so you can make plans to attend. It's finally here! Our Hymns of Faith CD is now availiable and is selling great. We never realized how hungry people are to hear these great old songs. We enjoy listening to it ourselves in spite of our singing. If you are a fan of the Wanda Mountain Boys, this is a must have. We always enjoy going to Manchester, IL to be with our buddies, the Chosen Ones at the Manchester Gospel Music Festival. They couldn't have asked for a more perfect weekend for this outside event. The Friday night concert was a great success with record crowds. We were there on Saturday afternoon and had the privilege to share the stage with the Webbs, the Chosen Ones and Called Out Qt. and the Todd Allen family. It was a wonderful singing. It's amazing when groups can come together in an outdoor venue and share the Gospel unashamedly. Our bus was broke down for the weekend so a special thanks goes to Pastor Gordon Scoggans of the Lighthouse Church in Griggsville, IL. He opened his home up to us to spend the night and prepare for a great day at his church. Several months back, I shared a testimony that he gave concerning my song, "Mission for the Cross". He finally got to share his message that was inspired by the song and we learned the song specially for the occassion. Pastor Gordon joined us on stage to add the bass part to the song making it extra special. August 22 was a special night for me as I got the opportunity to introduce the group to the folks at my home church, 1st Baptist of Festus Crystal City. We had a Southern Gospel Night at the church and were joined by our friends, the Redemptions. They are a wonderful mixed quartet from the Fenton, MO area and do a great job! We always enjoy being with them and the folks at 1st Baptist really responded well to the evening of Southern Gospel. I have been singing at New Testament Baptist Church in Sullivan, MO for nearly 30 years and it is always a treat to go there. This was the WMB's first trip to the church and they were welcomed by the Sunday morning crowd with a great reception. Thanks to my old friend, Ken Palmer, for allowing us to come and always making us feel welcome. The Edinburg, IL Ministerial Alliance started a special event in the park last year and we were privileged to be invited back again this year to share this special day. We were joined by the Chosen Ones and Saved by Grace along with a couple other local artists. Special thanks go to Pastor Denny Hamilton for inviting us to be a part of this event The 30th, we made our first appearance at the Tonica United Methodist Church in Tonica, IL. Hallie Sargent had attended one of our concerts in Kewannee,IL several months back and invited us to come and share with the folks in Tonica. The Spirit of the Lord was very present there and the folks treated us like royalty. After the service, they literally swarmed our cd table and I'm not exaggerating. It was a record day as they purchased our new cd along with many of the older recordings. This is a beautiful old church with a lot of history. Check out the pictures in the Misc. section of our photo page. I will try to get the newsletter back on a regular schedule. As always, thanks for visiting our website. Make sure to keep in touch with us through our contact page and let us know that you are out there. 09/26/2009
