June Newsletter

I can hardly believe that half of the year has come and gone. I guess it really is true that time speeds up when you hit 40. I know that it certainly has for me.

Our new recording project is coming along nicely. It is in the final stages and should be mixed and mastered in the next few weeks. Bill Schell has worked hard on this project to make it happen. We would also like to thank Scott Lomelino, of the Chosen Ones, for his hard work in the design of our new CD cover. Both of these men are special friends of the Wanda Mountain Boys.

As I said in our last newsletter, the month of June didn’t start out great for me but commitments were made and the group went on to sing without me. Claude made a call to long time Wanda Mountain Boy Tom Hollingsead, and he was there to pinch hit for me during my illness. It has been 6 months since Tom retired and he was a little nervous but according to all reports, he stepped in and didn’t miss a note. I would like to extend my special thanks to Tom for his willingness to step in during my illness.

June 7th took the boys to Mt. Moriah Baptist Church in Coffeen, IL. Pastor Mike Bates and his congregation were a wonderful group of folks to sing to. They had a good crowd and served a wonderful dinner after the service. The next evening took the group to Edwardsville, IL. Betty Emert was responsible for booking the group at LeClair Christian Church. This was the group’s first trip to this church and they had a great time. They also served a very nice meal after service.

The rest of June was spent taking some much needed vacation time. Claude took his annual motorcycle trip and then spent a few days in Florida. Rod took a couple of weekends and went to Kentucky and Tennessee. I took some much needed time to recover and spend some time at home with my children and wife.

We hope to be adding the artwork from our new project soon as well as some more pictures to our photo gallery. We strive to add new things often and hope that you will continue to come back to our site. We appreciate your support of this ministry and hope that you all know how important that you are to us.
