The Wanda Mountain Boys want to thank all of you who visit our website. We have been receiving several emails and always enjoy hearing your encouraging words. We hope that you enjoy these updates.

The month of July started off with a bang for the Wanda Mountain Boys. The 4th of July was a busy day for us as we had two concerts. Our good friends, Laura and Roy Sturm and the folks with the Hillsboro, IL 4th of July committee, invited us to help kick off their big holiday celebration. They have this wonderful day of festivities on the banks of Hillsboro Lake. We had the privilege, while there, to meet another fine Southern Gospel group from Kentucky, the Morgans.

That same evening, we found ourselves in Pana, IL. They have a pavilion in Kitchell Park that evangelist Billy Sunday once held a revival in. It made a wonderful setting for a concert. We would like to thank Dick Wheeler and Rick Cade for inviting us to participate in this celebration. Dick and Rick are with radio station, WJLY in nearby Ramsey, IL.

Saturday, July 5, we had the opportunity to go to KNLP Channel 24 in St. Louis, to tape an episode of Going Green, Country Gospel with Slim and Zella Mae Cox. We did an hour program that aired the following week. Slim and Zella Mae have been involved in Country Gospel Music for 60 years and they were a major part of the Grand Ole Gospel in Nashville. We had a great time visiting with this wonderful couple.

It is always good to see our friends, Dan and Laura Turos. Dan played the piano for the Gospel Four for several years before entering the ministry. We headed north to LeRoy, MI to take part in their city homecoming and do a couple of concerts at the LeRoy Covenant Church. They have a great bunch of people at the church and they treated us like kings. On the way up, we met the Chosen Ones and stopped to visit them as they were coming back to Illinois from singing in Grand Rapids.

Joan Sandbach invited us to be a part of the summer concert series held at the 1st Baptist Church of Wood River. It was good to sing around home for a change and we had a great time there.

On the 29th, we helped the Bond County Ministerial alliance kick off the Bond County Fair in Greenville, IL. It is in the charter that the fair must be started with a church service. Wayne Pierce serves on the board and has continued this tradition, not without some opposition. We hope that this tradition never ends. We had a great crowd at the grandstands and heard some good preaching as well.

Make sure that you check out the product section of our website. The new CD cover is shown there and you can preorder your copy today. As I write this column, we are just a couple of weeks away from the arrival of the project and we think that this is one that you will want to get. Also, if you are looking for a great vacation, check out the info on our cruise this coming January. We will be going to the Bahamas with a bunch of great Gospel groups. Last year’s cruise was a lot of fun and according to the travel agency, this ship is even better. We hope that you will plan to join us for a great time.
